Concert 1 – Classic Romantics is a celebration of local indigenous heritage and two stunning staples of the classical music repertoire.

Manduway Dutton will open the festival with a Welcome to Country, followed by the world premiere of his own composition, specifically written for the festival. Performed by the Australian String Quartet (ASQ) and festival musicians, this is a celebration of Gumbaynggirr history and culture and rich chamber music from the classical and romantic eras.

The ASQ will then take the stage to perform Beethoven’s String Quartet Op. 59 No. 3.

Following the interval, the ASQ return to perform the spectacular Tchaikovsky String Quartet Op. 11, No. 1.

At the conclusion of the opening concert, there will be a festival welcome with light refreshments available to ticket holders.
