A NEW PIANIST FOR COFFS HARBOUR IN 2021

It is with great excitement that the Coffs Harbour Regional Conservatorium welcomes the newest member of teaching staff, Maggie Pang.  Maggie is an emerging pianist from Sydney who has a keen interest in chamber music, education, piano pedagogy and contemporary performance and has recently graduated from the Australian National Academy of Music in Melbourne.

Maggie completed her Bachelor of Music Performance and Master of Music at the Sydney Conservatorium under the tutelage of Natalia Sheludiakova and Dr Bernadette Harvey.  During her studies at the Conservatorium, she was a featured soloist in various sonata and lunchtime concerts, and was the orchestral pianist in the Modern Music Ensemble and Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra’s 2015 Greenway Series. She also had the opportunity to study early keyboard with renowned historical performance scholar, Neal Peres Da Costa.

Maggie has participated in a number of music programs nationally and internationally. These include the 2012 and 2014 Icicle Creek Winter Piano Festival in Washington, US and the 2016 and 2017 AYO Chamber Players Program in partnership with the Musica Viva Festival. More recently, she was awarded a scholarship as one of the six pianists to participate in the 2017 Meadowmount School of Music in New York, a rigorous seven-week music program. Through these programs, Maggie had the privilege of receiving lessons and masterclasses from Gilbert Kalish, Xak Bjerken, Ann Schein, Lambert Orkis, Ivan Ženatý, the Goldner String Quartet and Plexus Ensemble.

Aside from scheming her next chamber music project, Maggie enjoys collaborating with local Australian composers. In the next few years, Maggie hopes to promote more works by active composers from China, introducing them to the Australian stage. When Maggie is not behind the piano, you may find her exploring the ECM record label, concocting her next culinary experiment or watching a sci-fi film of some sort. Apart from music, she sustains on the trinity of coffee, cats and Chinese cuisine.

Maggie is a passionate educator and performer, with years of experience both on stage and in the teaching studio. Maggie’s teaching schedule is rapidly filling up, with limited spots left for lessons in 2021. If you wish to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity for the Coffs Coast, please call 6652 1592 ASAP and secure your spot.
