Gillian Colgan

Music Teacher

My journey with music has been both comprehensive and diverse. I began learning the violin at the age of 6 while living in the Blue Mountains. I moved to Vienna with my family and continued my tuition with Stephan Achenbach, a first violinist with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, I studied ‘High Level Music’ within the International Baccalaureate at Vienna International School.

For my tertiary education I attended the Australian National University where I obtained a Bachelor of Music/ Bachelor of Arts. My music subjects included aural harmony, composition, music performance, music pedagogy, musicology and music theory.

In 2016 I moved to Melbourne to undertake the Advanced Diploma of Rudolf Steiner Education. At the seminar I learnt to integrate music into classroom lessons through the holistic approach of Steiner pedagogy.
