Mercedes Hohenlohe
Cello
The Coffs Harbour Regional Conservatorium is pleased to introduce our new cello teacher, Mercedes Hohenlohe, who is a passionate performer and teacher at the LMusA level.
She began learning the cello at 8 years old and at 14 won a position in the Australian Youth Orchestra. That same year she led the cello section of the NSW Regional Youth Orchestra and decided to pursue music professionally, later tutoring at the Armidale Youth Orchestra Camp. This year Mercedes is leading the cellists of the AYO Young Symphonists as well as the Regional Youth Orchestra on it’s international tour.
Mercedes has worked with world class musicians from the Sydney Symphony, Australian World, and London Symphony Orchestras, and had the privilege to be conducted by the renown Sir Simon Rattle in 2023. Having performed in masterclasses with Australia’s top cellists, Mercedes intends to continue cello as a bachelor’s degree with a view to studying in Europe.
