ANDREA KELLER: SOLO PIANO CONCERT & UNLOCKING CREATIVITY WORKSHOP
Join us for a special weekend with Australian pianist and composer Andrea Keller, one of Australia’s most original and influential voices in improvised jazz and art music.
A multi-award-winning pianist and composer, Andrea has released more than 20 albums of her work and is Head of Jazz & Improvisation at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, University of Melbourne.
FRIDAY 4 SEPTEMBER
Andrea Keller — Solo Piano Concert
6:30pm–7:30pm
Andrea will perform pieces from Forty-one Pieces for Piano, a collection of arrangements of her compositions for two and four hands, alongside improvisations prompted by her 100 Concepts for Cultivating Creativity.
This is a one-hour solo piano concert with no interval.

SATURDAY 5 SEPTEMBER
Unlocking Creativity Workshop
10:00am–12:00pm
Andrea will demonstrate her approach to practising improvisation and how she turns improvisational material into compositions and opportunities for further exploration.
The workshop will explore:
• free improvisation as a tool for creative learning
• concepts and starting points for improvisation and composition
• cultivating creativity in musicians at all stages

Designed for teachers and students whose predominant focus is notated music, this practical workshop offers strategies and resources for exploring improvisation and creating original music.
All instrumentalists and vocalists are welcome. No prior experience in jazz or improvisation is required. Participants are encouraged to bring their instrument, where applicable.
