Sunday Series Concert 6
October 27 - 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM
The final concert of the 2019 Sunday Series takes listeners on a journey of spectacular proportions.
Following the previous 5 concerts of 2019 that have seen Nordic folk music, Beethoven cello sonatas, jazz trios, one-woman theatrical shows, and chamber orchestras performing Wagner, we wrap up what has been an incredible year of music with a truly spectacular program.
Opening with the immensely beautiful Mendelssohn Piano Trio No. 1, Alex, Amber and Peter bring you one of the great chamber works by Felix Mendelssohn.
This is followed by the work that truly showed the composition prowess of Ernest Bloch. Winning the first prize in the Berkshire Chamber Music
Competition in 1919, the Suite for Viola and Piano is an enormously full work, and showcases the different sound worlds possible on the viola and technical ability of the instrument.
The piece that brings the 2019 Sunday Series to a close is the passionate, romantic, and exhilarating Piano Quartet in C minor by Richard Struass. This stunning piano quartet shows the symphonic power with just 4 players, exploring incredible highs and the most tender and gentle of lows.
Following the concert will be complimentary drinks to reflect and enjoy what has been a wonderful 2019 of concerts at the Coffs Conservatorium.
